Article VII - Meetings

Section 1. PUBLIC SERVICES

Public services will be conducted regularly on Sundays and weekdays for worship, the preaching and teaching of God's word and prayer.

Section 2. CONDUCTING SACRAMENTS
  • The sacrament of Holy Communion will be conducted regularly as determined by the vote of the church.
  • The sacrament of baptism will be conducted in keeping with covenant principles and according to the needs of the constituency.
Section 3. BUSINESS MEETINGS

Church business meetings will be held as stipulated in Article VII of the constitution. Special business meetings may be called by the chair of the church in consultation with the senior pastor or by the council, after two-weeks written notification has been made.

Section 4. CHURCH COUNCIL AND MINISTRY MEETINGS

Regular meetings of the council will be held to conduct the necessary business of the church. The ministries and any special committees will meet not less than at a frequency specified by the council. Special meetings of the council, the ministries and committees may be called by their respective chairs.

Section 5. ANNUAL MEETING
  • The Annual Meeting Part One will be convened in November for the primary (but not exclusive) purposes of electing council members and adopting a budget for the next calendar year.
  • The Annual Meeting Part Two will be convened in February for the primary (but not exclusive) purposes of approving the Annual Report for the previous calendar year and electing Nominating Committee members from the congregation, and delegates for the East Coast and national Evangelical Covenant Church annual meetings.
  • Annual Meeting minutes (parts one and two) will be presented and approved at the following year's annual meeting part one.
